About COPA

Who are we?
COPA is a regional organization that addresses the needs of psychologists in the Central Ohio area. COPA’s mission is to:

  • advance scientifically based psychology
  • support the highest professional standards for psychological practice
  • promote and advocate for human health and welfare

Where have we been?

  • A special thanks to Dr. Pam Deuser for her time, efforts, and leadership as President for the past two years. Under Dr. Deuser’s leadership, COPA has continued to progress, as we meet the needs of psychologists in central Ohio.
  • We held two successful workshop programs during the past year - the first was a dual track workshop, giving attendees the option to obtain continuing education in Pediatrics or Geriatrics and the second was an Ethics roundtable that allowed members to receive their 3 credit hours in Ethics before the end of MCE biennium.
  • Based on the positive feedback we have received in previous workshops, we are proud to be able to offer more low cost continuing education workshops this year. Attending even one of the workshops at the member-discounted rate will entirely offset the cost of your membership. Topics slated for presentation this year include Risk Assessments and Duty to Protect; WAIS-IV administration, scoring, and interpretation; and Ethics.
  • We continue to update the web site so that it is fully functional for all members. Over the course of this coming year, we want our site to be even more personal and more functional for you. We are now providing opportunities to have your name on our web site linked to your web page, and to highlight public and /or media presentations you have been a part of.
  • The COPA listserv allows members to network via e-mail about a wide range of psychological issues. If you are not already subscribed, you can join the listserv by sending a request to be added to Denise Brenner.  If you are already subscribed, you can send a message to fellow COPA members here

Where are we headed?

  • Now is a critical time in the history of COPA, and your continued support is vital to helping us achieve our objectives for the benefit of psychologists in central Ohio and throughout the state.
  • To make this Association even stronger, I am challenging each of you to find at least one other psychologist who is not currently a member, and get him or her signed up. You can then invite that colleague to join you at our next CE workshop, where you will each receive a $30.00 member discount (completely off-setting the cost of the membership)!
